When you think about a big city what do you picture yourself? Probably a lot of commercial and residential buildings, shops, monuments and some parks. What I love about London is that you can have such amazing places as lavender farms right in the city! Yes, it’s not in the centre, but still not that far away!
I have been seeing a lot of photos from there on Instagram and have always wanted to go there. There are 2 lavender farms, one is actually in London – Mayfield Lavender and another one is just outside of the city – Hitchin Lavender. Lavender is blooming in July and August only, so it was a very quick decision to go there asap. It was easier and faster to go to Mayfield Lavender and so we did. There are different ways to get there: by public transport or by car. There were 4 of us and the cheapest was to rent a car. 50 minute drive from Clapham Junction and we are there!
The entrance is 1 GBP only and you get to spend a day in amazing huge field full of lavender. I’m not a big fan of lavender flavour in cosmetics, but I really enjoyed the real smell of it. It’s a very beautiful place for a photo shoots and probably most people including us went there only for nice photos. Luckily, it wasn’t raining (ha!) and we spent half a day there.
There is also a burger place and a cafe to buy tea or coffee. While coffee wasn’t great, the burger was just amazing! You can also get Afternoon tea plate with lavender scones and cream. And if you are a real fan of lavender, you can but lots of products in the shop there: oils, creams and even pots with this plant itself. I definitely recommend visiting any Lavender farm for beautiful photographs!
